3000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children in the most rural areas of Delta State gets free clothes through the Boxes of Hope Project 2020.
Founder of Clever Minds Educational Foundation, Zion Oshiobugie alongside his team spent two months profiling children in the most rural areas of Warri Delta State, Nigeria for the Boxes of Hope project 2020 documenting children’s age, size, name, and other information from over 100 low-income families in the most rural parts Warri Delta State. The foundation gave away customized clothes, shoes, and toys to the kids as a way of inspiring hope in them for a better tomorrow and in a bid to prevent sicknesses of any form that may arise due to cold, heat, or any other factor. This project contributes to the already great work by the Delta state government led by his Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
In this three-day project, the Clever Minds Educational Foundation with over 100 volunteers took to the slums of Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, clothes, shoes, and toys donated by kind-hearted individuals all over Nigeria. These clothes were collected at the various collection centers in Warri and received via courier from across Nigeria. The volunteers’ team took time to wash, sort, and repack the clothes into beautiful boxes with each child’s name on each of the boxes. Clothes, toys, and shoes pack in a box with the inscription, “BOXES OF HOPE”
Day 1 was the Flag off at Iyara community. The chairman of Warri South LGA did the project ribbon cutting. Dr. Michael Tidi, Ph.D. in other dignitaries. in attendance was Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Mr. Onome Ikede, Mrs. Vivian Smooth, Mrs. Ogogoro Bawo Oteri, Mrs. Tekpwe Ehwerido, Mrs. Ofesi, Mrs. Timiebi Guwor, amongst others. Day 2 and 3 were for children in Orhumarho, Alaka, and neighboring communities.
Through Clever Minds Educational foundation’s boxes of hope project, over 3000 children, men, and women in Iyara, Alaka, Orhumarho, and neighboring communities in delta State got new, used, and semi-used weather appropriate clothes alongside shoes and toys.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic Lockdown in March 2020, Clever Minds Educational started free community mentoring/free lessons in the slums of Warri to bridge the pandemic’s educational gap. Once every week, the team at Clever Minds Educational, alongside its volunteer community teachers, mentors, and gives face mask, food, and sanitary items to over 1500 children in the three communities we work. Clever Minds Educational also operates a government-approved free school for orphans and underprivileged children in Edjeba Warri South LGA of Delta State Nigeria, where it educates over 167 orphans and disadvantaged children.
Clever Minds Educational Foundation CEO and founder, Mr. Zion Oshiobugie, shared why he embarked on this project. He also suffered a lack of clothes and poverty growing up, and he has always wanted to give hope to kids in the slums as they represent where he was born and raised.
Mr. Zion Oshiobugie has always helped young change-makers in Delta State, Nigeria as it is a passion he has had from the onset of time. He also encourages people all over the world to do the same in their communities. Mr. Zion wants people to spread love, not hate, spread JOY, not sorrow, give HOPE, and give every child in poverty because he believes that when you provide clothes for them, you cover their shame.
